HELLO,
(FYI: Curious is my little smiley faced guide)
There are a number of companies out there designed to spam your blog, this is truly annoying and is very intrusive, as you can tell I am a little peeved at this, this morning. I came in all excited about the possibility of comments and there it was a reel of SPAM! (Major sigh) What seems worse is that they are not even gracious enough to sell to you, like your email spam; they are after the search engines! Check out this URL for further information: http://codex.wordpress.org/Comment_Spam
“A Google bomb is when a large number of different websites link to a page with the same link text to influence the ranking of that page for a search term” (Online)
“Adding links that point to the spammer’s web site artificially increases the site’s search engine ranking. An increased ranking often results in the spammer’s commercial site being listed ahead of other sites for certain searches, increasing the number of potential visitors and paying customers.” (Online)
The URL’s I have added here are not peer reviewed websites so please read with care, they are open sourced. The information has not been approved by any particular body; but I think they have some relevant points. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_in_blogs

So how to deal!! There is nothing you can do apart from be aware and manage your spam within your management comment dashboard. The reason we want the spam to be recognised is because if enough people flag up the IP address’s (http://www.whatismyip.com/faq/what-is-an-ip-address.) of the offenders they then may be blocked, although this means very little in the over all scheme of things because IP addresses can be change, but its something!!
- Login to WordPress
- Click on Comments
- This will take you too your comments management page

- Hover the mouse over the comment box and a series of choices will appear
- Curious, is sitting kindly next to your comment choices:

- If you think that the comment is SPAM please click the spam button
Hope this makes sense and maybe helps a little, when I gain a greater understanding I will post further information.
